The wall unit groans slightly as you pull the handle, watching the bed frame pivot downward to reveal your sleeping space. It is a smooth process until the mattress bunches up or refuses to sit flush against the base.
You need a folding surface that respects the geometry of your wall unit. These Best Mattresses for Murphy Beds ensure you can stow everything away quickly when morning arrives. Let us review what works for your spare room.
Key Takeaways
- Prioritize a total thickness of six inches or less to ensure the wall unit closes properly without mechanical strain.
- Seek out memory foam construction because it holds its shape through repeated folding cycles better than traditional springs.
- Verify the actual dimensions against your specific wall bed frame because small variations in width can lead to frustrating gaps.
- Look for a washable cover because mattresses stored vertically often gather dust more easily than standard beds.
- Choose models with cooling gel infusions if you tend to sleep hot since folding materials can trap body heat during the night.
